Public Care and Hospitals of Paris
Located in the Latin Quarter, close to Notre Dame Cathedral, the museum of "L'Assistance Publique" has occupied the premises of the Miramion hotel since 1934.
Today, it is a social museum and is the only one of its kind to relate the history of Parisian hospitals from the Middle Ages to modern days.
The museum boasts over 5000 objects resulting from its scheme to conserve the heritage in the field of medicine.
The various aspects of hospital life are illustrated through a variety of objects including furniture, medical and surgical instruments, pharmaceutical items, paintings, engravings, sculptures, illuminated manuscripts, medical papers and documents.
The museum also schedules a variety of temporary exhibitions.
